Movies are a visual media. If you have an eye for visuals you’ll enjoy some of the more subtle nuances of the story-telling. I was watching “Lifeforce” the other day and the way certain scenes used parallels with lighting and effects to tie narrative elements together was compelling in its own way. There are things you can do with film that you can’t do with novels and vice versa.

Yeah the film is basically its own story. They left out Mercerism, the mood organ, his wife Iran, the whole obsession with owning a real animal which seems to be the only thing that keeps Deckard going. The whole thing with the paralell police station which is run by Replicants might have been interesting. The men also wear lead codpieces in the book so I can understand why they cut that part out.
