Sven raises a good point about how a lot of people only criticise Israel now because of October 7th and it is being done from a somewhat libtarted point of view (“I still believe in the two state solution, but could they just not be all Baruch Goldstein about it?”) The IDF could be the most moral army in the world, Israel should still be dismantled. Algebra is Arabic, from ‘al-jabr’, which means jabbering on about something.
Years ago I read that algebra was invented in Persia as a way of coping with their unwieldy base 40 math system. I’ve never checked to see if that was true. Pretty sure it was invented in Persia though.
