Autism triggered. CRTs are desirable for retro games if you have an actual retro console with the composite or rf out cables. Those connections are metal to metal with zero software between so there’s zero latency between the console/controller inputs and the image refresh on the screen. Modern TVs have sometimes 2-3 frames of lag between when the image is generated by the console to when it appears on the screen because of the shitty built in upscaling for composite video sources. Oh man there was a fucking hilarious argument chain on X about 6 months back about changing your oil and how it is actually cheaper to have a service station change it vs. my time is more valuable. I think Alex was commenting on it and dunking on it. But I was in tears laughing it was so fucking stupid. But ya I change my own oil 🤣🧨

I watched an hour long youtube video about the largest crt ever made, 45 inches, the guy found one in Japan. When I was a teenager we had a 36 inch crt encased in a 90s woodgrain display case. I swear it weighed 800lbs and couldn’t be removed from the overall display case. Took a huge amount of effort to get it up the basement steps.
The amount of crazy technology that went into making CRT higher quality was kind of insane. Most of it was economically infeasible because it needed so much engineering work to manufacture. Rear projection, field emission display… the list is really long.
LCD and the likes just slaughtered it all, a lesson in tech and economics for sure.

Aluminum cans are very much worth recycling.
The problem I have with the bottle return system is that it makes residential recycling services harder to implement, as a big part of the usable material is taken out so only the super wealthy and/or liberal cities can justify it.
