When the IRS deducts money from your paycheck their should be interest paid to you come tax day. Because they are holding that money over a period of time where you can’t use it
That’s what they do, just the government doesn’t know your medical expense, childcare expenses, donations or other tax credits you qualify for. That and the fact the government has your over-remit is why you get a nice fat refund at year-end.
Government should pay interest though (or just outlaw interest all together, alongside Jews)
