Yes, the Eowyn being a woman bit is in the book (but better written) because it’s a reference to Macbeth. Macbeth believes he can’t be killed by any man born of woman but Macduff tells him he was “untimely ripped” from his mother’s womb, i.e. he was born by C-section which is the loophole used to fuck up Macbeth.

Episode 1516 today, and that was actually a notable year. That’s when the Bavarian Purity Law was enacted, standardizing hops as the bittering agent in beer brewing. Before that, people used all kinds of botanicals including henbane, which contains scopolamine. It would dry out the mouth of the drinker, making them drink even more, and eventually the deliriant hallucinogenic properties of scopolamine would kick in. Good times.
