The Galileo moment happened because Galileo was commissioned by the Pope to study both helio and geocentrism. In Galileo’s report, he cast the Pope as a character named “Simplicito” and basically disparaged one of the most powerful theological authorities in the land… lol.

He was sentenced to house arrest for life due to that, not because of heliocentrism itself.

This wasn’t the persecution reddit atheists pretend it is.

No, he was specifically forbidden in 1616 from teaching/defending heliocentrism and his book was used as evidence that he had defied this order.
Yes there was a character called retard in the book who had retarded arguments and yes the retarded pope saw himself in that character, but do you know what we call it when a ruler goes after an individual for personal reasons or because they believe/teach something that goes against official doctrines (especially when we now know it to be true)? Thats right, persecution

Yes it still would be, you retarded superstitions Jew! It would genetically still be a zebra. It happens every so often you get a Zebra that’s just black or white. Yes the strip pattern makes it impossible to pick out one from the crowd, those without stripes get eaten thus why they aren’t common.
Interestingly if you shoot them with brightly coloured paintballs to tag them for experiments they get eaten straight away as they stand out.

In my experience Japanese food is excellent, in Japan. Outside of Japan it is passable at best. Wasabi is a difficult plant to grown, it has to be in pebbles in running fresh water with a certain ph level, that why in the west they use horseradish.

It was 6-3 on striking down the Exec Order. It was 5-4 on making them citizens. Kavanaugh had a partial dissent, but not on the actual citizenship argument. 6-3, was to strike it down, but not make them citizens. The 5-4 vote was to make them citizens. Not that it matters in the end, but that’s the actual opinion. https://www.supremecourt.gov/opinions/25pdf/25-365_diff_ed9g.pdf

While there was a brief period in which the Catholic Church persecuted scientists, they persecuted Heretics FAR more cruelly. Ultimately Christians are the spine of the establishment of science. This is just historical fact. I’m sorry that that bothers you, but it shouldn’t.

wasabi & horseradish are both brassicas, but yeah they’re different species. wasabi’s expensive b/c they grow it slow in cool streambeds to get the desirable result (which I believe is the stem). there are actually a fair few wasabi farms in the PNW b/c it’s a good climate for it, but iirc it really took off outside the US in New Zealand. If you go to a super high end sushi restaurant, they’ll take out a wasabi plant and grate it for you

interesting. idk that I’ve ever even had the real thing although I don’t ask. mostly kaitenzushi w/ a few actual nothing-special restaurants. Ngl tho, I don’t get a weird flavor from it, but I also don’t have the cilantro thing. Horseradish, unlike wasabi is _super_ easy to grow. In fact, kind of hard to eradicate if you put it in-ground and it can find nooks & crannies you can’t till/pull…not as bad about spreading as mint, but can sprout back from very small pieces of root.

DNA demonstrably acts like a coded language. This isn’t even debatable. You’re playing semantics by saying “we came up with a-t-c-g,” you’re confusing the model syntax with the semantics.

It’s a code. Its diverse quanta that meaningful acts via a ruleset that creates instructions for the institution of proteins.

The Anthropic Principle is the universe SEEMS as though it’s fine-tuned in such a way for Human intelligence to observe it, but of course it seems that way when observing the universe through Human senses and with a Human brain. But there is a shitton of the universe completely unobservable to our senses, we can’t even see infrared while other animals can.

The universe is necessary intelligently designed, by default, given that you can even debate the validity of the theory or lack thereof. It’s deductively absurd actually.

Conscious beings trying to explain to each other why actually nothing is really intelligent or purposeful in the universe ultimately at the most fundamental level is always uniquely ironic.

What’s the evidence for Langan’s model of the universe?

It starts with philosophical reasoning, which any theory of everything would necessarily have to do because observation itself is necessarily conditioned by implicit logic and rationale to make sense of the observations and sensations and experiences we have IE we need a ground for intelligibility itself through a coupling of epistemology and ontology, which Langan does. Any data would then have to be interpreted to make sense within the necessary model for understanding reality itself. You MUST start with philosophy. It cannot occur in any other fashion. I think the neatest empirical evidences for his theory are how it makes… Read more »

You’re leaving out the context obviously so why are you lying? It says, verbatim, “ Short version: it doesn’t, in the sense physics means “explain.””

Note the part “in the sense physics means “explain.”” You dumb nigger. It’s not a physical theory, it’s a metaphysical theory.

It’s not a TOE in the materialist, physics sense. But, a true TOE can’t be like that anyway. That’s the sticking point; Physics is nothing without philosophy.

Who decided that a theory of everything has nothing to do with physics? The unification of theories has been a goal of physics since Newton

It’s a metaphysical theory. It gives the coherent basis for physical theories themselves, that’s the intention and goal at least.

You heard it from borzoi first, theories of everything are lame, new age, hipster fad nonsense started by the King of Lazing Daydreamers, Isaac Newton. No, Mr. Newton, that is an apple not a graviton, you’ve answered nothing. What even is gravity? Is it a force? The bending of space? Is there an elusive graviton out there somewhere? My money is on no unified theory of physics because the universe is kinda retarded and absurd and is probably just a recording being replayed infinitely in a black hole. This truly is Hell, Mr. borzoi.

“Consciousness “causes” reality in a way that cannot be explained by efficient causation but is explained by systems such as Langan. All the revelations of quantum physics from the past several decades or so attest to this.”

Consciousness playing a role in the collapse of the wave function is just another way to interpret the maths, and it’s not even a particularly common view among quantum physicists, furthermore it is by definition unfalsifiable, so it is not a scientific claim

That was a good joke ngl. But it’s more about the principle of truth, because Chris Langan is severely lied out and maligned by bad actors across the web. He doesn’t have “fake test scores.” The most underhanded thing you can say about his past actions were taking the Mega test for the 2nd time under a pseudonym because the 1st time when he when he passed with a 42 out of 48 under his real name, they changed the passing threshold to 43. When the media began ascribing him the vaunted “man with 200 IQ” label, that was based… Read more »

Trying to prove in a God is a pointless endeavor as the entire point of faith is that you choose to have it or you don’t. People can make reasons/excuses for anything

There are people that present reasons and arguments and comprehensive theories for God’s justification but you guys (atheist apes) don’t care.

Whenever I talk to an atheist, they present the worst arguments possible that have been defeated repeatedly but they don’t even know it because they don’t really care about finding the truth for some reason.

I’m Lutheran. I accept humans have the ability to use reason and logic to validate their choice. Thus it is a pointless endeavor as faith is just simply that: a faith.

Can one really choose what one believes? I can’t be a Christian because I don’t believe the truth claim that Christ was literally God’s son sent to earth to die for our sins. Maybe I could pretend to believe it, but because I don’t think it’s true, I can never really believe it.

What one thinks is true or false greatly influences what they believe. This doesn’t have to be about the Christian faith though as I believe this is more relevant when just talking about trying to prove in a God, which is fundamentally a faith based belief.

If God gave a rat’s ass if He was believed in or not, he might have picked a better method of verification than just trust this sketchy book and these shady institutions. I mean, if I were God and people believing in and worshiping me were high on my priorities list, I’d be making appearances every day, putting on a show, I’d probably be a little obnoxious to be honest, and you shits had better make with some decent offerings. But since that doesn’t happen, God probably has more important things on His plate than what the backwards upjumped monkey… Read more »
