Everything about Primaris was just a step forward followed by a leap back. SOME pretty neat models, at the expense of destroying the narrative and essentially working to render the old ones obsolete “but not really”. They had their cake and ate.
whats crazy is i played for a bit during 7th edition (2015) and there were already talks about marines getting bigger and standing on 28mm instead of 25mm bases. Then the primaris thing happened. Primaris marines are a bit different than regular marines just outside of lore though. They have the specialist special weapons only squads and don’t really have an equivalent to tac marines that could carry special and heavy weapons.
Its worth pointing out that necrons had a TINY range and GW couldn’t really expand on it given their old lore which is probably the reason they changed it. For the most part they kept the existing necron units when they changed over to newcrons with the exception of pariahs (rip)

The Eisenhorn series was very good. Highly recommend. Everything has flashes of excellence, which makes it so sad to see it go downhill. Now they got the Lion and Robutt Girlyman, and Angron and Mortarion running around having marvel adventures.
