I strongly disagree on the nuclear question. If iran gives up nuclear material, this is difficult to reverse. But if the US lifts sanctions or Israel withdraws from Lebanon, then this is relatively easy to reverse. I also think iran will eventually need the nuclear deterrent. They need the option to go nuclear if the US/Israel go nuclear. The strait is a good tool and a good way to make money. Great point about the diminishing returns of the strait – the fact that Trump is so obsessed with the “dust” only underscores that a nuclear weapon is the only true deterrent.
