Fossils are a fucking disaster for evolution. It shows stasis for millions of years followed by the instant appearance of new life forms. That had to give this observation an explanation to explain it away: punctuated equilibrium.

None of this solves the problem that random, unguided mutations are supposed to account for all genetic diversity outside of intelligent design by a creator. It’s mathematically absurd. It’s essentially impossible when you understand it at the genetic level.
