I own a 2016 Subaru WRX Sti and it has been my only car for 10 years and I have not had any problems with it. I bring it to the dealership and just pay all the maintenance fees. Brembo rotors and brake pads cost 3 thousand dollars every 50k miles….
The whole fucking point of Brembos is you yank the little stainless steel pin out and swap the pads without having to unbolt the caliper.

the real sweet spot is EV with a range extender, sometimes called a plug-in hybrid. but if you already have a gas car for the range, it doesn’t matter. get a basic EV, a leaf is fine, it’ll never give you problems and the tires are cheap.
range extenders are literally just a generator operating at peak efficiency to charge the battery. making it possible to get over 1000 miles per tank. It’s how the Chevy Volt was designed, but they cut the gas tank size to cap the range because “fuck you”. This is the sweet spot that Chinese cars are hitting now and have for a while now. The next big thing is Sodium batteries which don’t fuck up when it’s cold. I don’t think there’s a pipeline for that in the US though. Canada will get them.
most if not all diesel powered cargo ships have two diesel train engines for generators to power everything but the main engine which uses bunker c which is just crude oil
polestar 4’s are getting subsidized 10k off by their company right now if you want a refined EV that’s NOT made in america. like in the 40k-50k range though
