Regarding the transition from bowls to joints, I only ever saw joints growing up in LA and only ever used by niggers. Even my stereotypical skater cousins never smoked it. So I grew up associating weed with niggers, which ensured that I’d never smoke weed because I wasn’t a fucking nigger.
I only smoked pot with White people, so it was always joints, bongs and pipes.
