There is a new strategy for AI training called reinforcement learning (RL) which helps AI learn to reason beyond statistical probabilities, which uses punishment/reward mechanics. That is currently how AI researchers are trying to improve reasoning ability. “Old” critiques of AI reasoning are quickly becoming antiquated.
This sounds great in the promotional material but it’s just vapor-speak unless and until you see results that line up with the hype.
They have developed benchmark tests for AI reasoning. They have already proved that this works which is why they are doing it.
You can literally just use a paid frontier model on thinking mode and watch it reason. People oblivious to this fact clearly just haven’t done that, or have barely done it and didn’t really test it out thoroughly.
