You guys completely missed the point of what I was saying. It’s actually MMT, not libertarianism, to acknowledge that massive money printing caused inflation. The stimulus totaled $4.6 trillion. The Fed spent a ton of it on things other than direct payments, I actually think it was the right thing to do, and that we had to just eat the inflation afterwards. Not exactly libertarian. The price spike was inarguably initiated by the sanctions which raised energy prices and raised energy prices caused rising prices across all other sectors. That’s a direct causation. Increasing the monetary supply or the supply of anything won’t lower price of said thing unless demand for said thing decreases as a result. The demand for currency never decreases, currency devaluations are rarely to never caused by mere increase of monetary supply. Decreasing the money supply below its needs for economic transactions is deflationary. The Fed manages inflation by adjusting interest rates. While I do not approve of taking 150 dollars from mike when stuck in the snow. As someone that works on the road with heavy equipment, stopping and helping everyone that are stuck in a snowstorm would take a lot of time and these are the days when I do not have time to help because of the snow storm. 5 minute helping someone can easily turn in to 1 hour and you are probably already late by 2 hours because of the snow storm to begin with.
