The conversion re; The Lord of the Rings etc was a comfy tangent. The pop culture stuff is great and provides some insight and lol’s. Keep it up
Tolkein did a translation and commentary on Beowulf, and he followed it with his own unique but Beowulf-like story. I really enjoyed reading that. He wanted to use as many cognates as possible when translating the Old English.
Ahem… his name is pronounced “Mill Bitchell”.
Technically if you go by the way Tolkien wrote LOTR, it’s six books. Fellowship, Towers and Return are each divided into two books.
The hobbit movies include stuff from unfinished tales and something JRR wrote where Gandalf retells the story from his POV.
To answer Mike’s question about whether coffee is grown in the US, yes Hawaii produces Kona coffee and Puerto Rico produces Yauco Select.
Separately I’m not sure what he was referring to in the story about Aurora, Illinois, maybe he meant Aurora, Colorado, where Venezuelan gangsters supposedly took over an apartment complex?
Jar Jar is in all three prequels hehe
He literally gives Palpatine the emergency powers.
People shit on jar jar, but he is the least of the problem.
The pacing is just terrible and every time there is any dialog it is super forced or in weird situations.
Like when they go through the core they are mindlessly chatting about something without a care in the world. Yet they just barley managed to survive several life and death encounters that was not due to their handling of the situation it was just by pure chance they survived.
Billy Zane in Titanic “I’m with child”
Epstein “send me a photo”
When you bring in Pajeets you get DEIorrhoea
This was definitely a good time to resubscribe to the paywall.
Re the Epstein victim saying she thought he was an Alien, he probably told her that, these are psychos we’re talking about that enjoy that kind of shit, and if she tells people that it helps now doesn’t it. The other point is drugs, I’m gonna assume they were using scopolamine and propranolol as intel people do. Scopolamine can make you spend your life savings going to Disneyland with a handler, and propranolol will make you forget you were there. Propranolol is given to trauma victims if a statement isn’t needed, they may forget what happened if it’s given quickly… Read more »
Two minor quibbles on the first hour:
The Kennedy who said Hart-Cellar wasn’t going to change the demographics of America wasn’t Bobby, it was the even more revolting Teddy.
Coffee prices have skyrocketed in my little European country, too. The US has applied tariffs to some coffee producing countries, but that can’t be the whole reason for the rise, because we’re hard hit, too, and we don’t have any such tariffs.
The idea that foreign workers would ever go back is laughable. Every H-1B I knew, if they had wives with them – and many did – were always pumping out babies: American citizens. And then they also get to take advantage of our generous paid leave policies, taking months off every couple years.
It’s pretty obvious that Science Fiction isn’t actually about science. It uses made up science as a Mcguffin for situations with interesting social commentary. Fantasy is a little less obvious, but magic is a metaphor for people with great influence. Magic is language skill, you literally say the words right and things happen.
But somewhere along the line, both turned into superficial eye candy for 8 year olds.
I know Idiocracy is played out but they literally did CPI brought to you by DoorDash.
Episodes like this where you talk about pop culture stuff (and where Mike doesn’t simply throw cold water on the whole discussion) are my favorite, since there’s nowhere else to get this sort of analysis from a jew-aware lens.
Fellowship is my favorite of the trilogy. The other two aren’t bad but they’re a bit less watchable because of Hackson injecting them with capeshit comedy and Gimli and Legolas getting flanderized as comedy relief and flawless superhero, respectively
When they’re conspicuously ignoring a popular but stupid event, is the best! Of course McNabb can only resist so long and has to chime in eventually.
I remember due to the success of LOTR Hollywood was trying to duplicate the epic fantasy book adaptation trilogy like the golden compas and they just were garbage and never bothered making the sequels
The casting of Jeremy Irons as Brom was the only good thing with Eragon
