I’m sure it’s nothing novel to say this, but I cannot stand the way ‘democracy’ is so repeatedly and piously invoked to justify action *against* the popular will, and the way it is simply taken for granted and never examined that Jews outside of Israel should care what happens there and what their neighbors think of it.
Mamdani hasn’t said anything about the Jews of New York, only about Israel. Why is it taken for granted that Jews in New York should feel threatened by that?
