The riff from the Ghost song is great in my opinion. Landing on that major 3rd at the end is brilliant and jarring at the same time.

The actual Ghost song is too slow and plodding to be good metal. It’s got a rhythm of 40 bpm? At merely 60 to 70 bpm the entire tone of the song changes. It goes from a gothic dirge with distortion to a menacing diatribe. 1.25 theater makes ghost better.

I have the digitech drop pedal. When I didnβt have a bass I used it to write and record bass parts. The helix has a polyphonic capo Iβve used that works well also but the digitech is definitely a bit better in terms of maintaining tonal quality.

I donβt have a lot of thoughts on him tbh. Sort of influential on my lead playing and an incredible talent. Iβm definitely an appreciator but I didnβt even become a big pantera respecter until after he was gone.

Regarding the Jackson downturning: does it have a Floyd Rose? I bought a Jackson USA Soloist used and the guy had it tuned to D. Changing it to E standard was a miserable 45 minutes.
If itβs a hard tail and down tuning is affecting intonation some recommend using a heavier string gauge but Iβve not tried it myself so donβt know if it actually helps
Increasing your string gauge definitely helps with keeping proper tension when down tuning. But you also have to take into account the string spacing on the nut and the intonation can still be a bit off.
Good to know. Iβm not techy enough to screw around with nut spacing. Iβd probably eventually get it right but I can imagine better ways to spend a couple hours.
I donβt really down tune but I have a few Jacksons with Floyd Rose and I bought a 25 pack of strings for them and when I used those strings on my trusty old Gibson Explorer I got a bunch of fret buzz. Putting on a heavier string gauge fixed it but not sure of the effect on intonation.
Itβs honestly not a super involved process you can just file out the notches to accommodate the larger string. But with a Floyd that shouldnβt be an issue anyway the slots on the metal nut should be wide enough to accommodate whatever.
I listened to that piece ov shit Behemoth song last night. Apart from being cringe it wasnβt as bad as I feared. The last number of Behemoth albums havenβt suited my tastes (with exceptions).

The effluent pump should have a check valve in the discharge pipe to keep water from the mound from running back into the tank.
Either the check valve is leaking – not hard to replace
Or the pump tank leaks – pretend like it doesnβt and keep doing what you are doing. Unless itβs the lid not sealed properly, that might be an easy fix.

I’ve had my guitars tuned to D (and then eventually) C forever now. If I want to play in E, I use this nifty thing they call a capo. Yes, you have to add +2 or +4 frets to whatever you play, but you get used to it, and you have the ability to play heavier riffs. But otherwise a guitar tuned in E or drop-whatever isn’t great for metal.
(Unless you have a 7-string, in which case I’m envious. Once I have a real job again I’m planning to buy a Schecter 7-string).
