In my made up religion, if a nigger kills your kin, you have to go kill that nigger and make an offering of its head to the Gods, or else you’re a cuck and you’ll get made fun of in the afterlife.

Have to disagree with Moike a bit about the alleged first temple: the temple of King Solomon as described in the OT is certainly mythical, but there would have been a temple of some kind in Jerusalem when the Babylonians sacked the city.
It’s like the Arthurian mythos: there was probably a real person that King Arthur was based on, and he probably had some kind of palace/capital, but it was not “Camelot.”
No, there’s no evidence of a first temple and the earliest outside records of a jew kingdom in the Levant is during the reign of Josiah. If there was a first temple it was a small, unimpressive thing in the backwater of Jerusalem.
No, I didn’t. I 100% believe in the reality of King Arthur, Merlin the Magician and a magical sword bestowed by a lake Goddess.

As to the bit about Christian forgiveness, these families of victims of Black violence are NOT doing the forgiveness thing properly. Etymologically “forgive” means “forward”, PIE *per + “give”, PIE *ghabh, which has a basic sense of “to hold” either in the offering or the taking. When you forgive someone you literally hold forward a gift for the offender to take. The only catch is that in order to accept that gift of forgiveness, the offender must by definition take implicit accountability for their moral debt incurred. Forgiveness is like an exchange, and what you’re supposed to give in exchange… Read more »

Are Blacks aware that when White people hear them claim zero responsibility for wantonly killing White people because of racism that it just makes us even more racist against them? If Blacks were really serious about fighting racing the first thing they would do is stop making flimsy excuses for other Blacks killing White people.

Christian theological discourses online are so awful because the vast majority of them are done by Americans who can never do anything privately but have to make an absolute public spectacle of everything. They want to be seen with the biggest public prayer, wearing the biggest cross everyone can see, and wanting everyone to know just how pious they are. Compare this to many of the traditional European Christian religious expressions and you’ll find comparatively more quiet expression. The Dutch Calvinists and their descendants, for instance, are famous for being very intense and unshakeable in their devotion but being very… Read more »
And when ye pray, you shall not be as the hypocrites, that love to stand and pray in the synagogues and corners of the streets, that they may be seen by men: Amen I say to you, they have received their reward.
Putting aside all theological speculations on the validity of any particular religion- Protestantism is the ugliest thing ever cooked up. American Protestantism in particular. It’s a creed of hyper-individualism (Only God can judge me!) materialistic money-grubbing (“Protestant work ethic”) load of schizophrenia with a massive chip on it’s shoulder about not being grounded in any tradition or history; so to compensate they clutch at judeo-worship, or LARP at being jews.
I’m inclined to agree. Moike’s instincts are correct. There’s something very off with low-church protestantism. High-church too, but those are like the problems facing Roman Catholicism. The structures and basis are sound, but there’s a problem with the clergy. The laity tends to be more correct.

Christians can indeed forgive before repentance is asked but this is very contextual and is better understood as how you forgive the sins of others is how your sins will in turn be forgiven. Only God actually forgives however and the Catechism affirms this. Murder is a sin that cries to Heaven for vengeance and i would argue the father is practicing a form of false piety by covering for this mortal sin as if that’s how you actually feel that’s something you keep in private to yourself. That’s between you, God, and the sinner. Making a public spectacle of… Read more »

Jews are the original “we wuz kangz” posters.
“While you European Goyim were painting yourselves blue, we were building great temples!”
Meanwhile the actual temple probably looked like a total pile of shit (both artistically and literally) compared to the grand temples of Greece, Rome, Egypt, Persia, or even the rune craved stone monuments built by the Celts and Germanic peoples.
Even by their own accounts, they didn’t do shit. Solomon’s palace and the first temple was built by Phoenician craftsmen and material.

“If your brother or sister sins against you, rebuke them; and if they repent, forgive them. Even if they sin against you seven times in a day and seven times come back to you saying ‘I repent,’ you must forgive them.”
My understanding of forgiveness is that you look at the person and don’t see them as the sin they committed. You wish them the best, which means that you want them to repent of their sin and be Christian; because nothing is possible without them taking this step.
You can want them to be punished to the fullest extent, it is what they rightly deserve. You can dislike them. You just can’t hate them (wish ill upon them).
I expanded on my view in the next two comments. Imo the father is engaging in false piety by airing his spiritual life over a sin that calls to Heaven for vengeance. If he forgives the murderer that should have been done in private in a conversation with the murderer, not aired out as a spectacle which is what truly disgusts me.

That’s a prominent hill that temple complex lies on, isn’t it? Given it’s location, there just had to have been something there predating the Temple.
Herod’s platform probably wiped out whatever marginal archeological remains that did exist prior to it.
Ben, all you did was restate what I just said, in your own words. What was the point of your post?
No, I didn’t. I 100% believe in the reality of King Arthur, Merlin the Magician and a magical sword bestowed by a lake Goddess.

Agreed.
We’re taking a shot every time Mike uses some permutation of his new favorite term, marked out.
I’ll call a rehab and reserve a room for you.
Not only will be drinking, but you’ll be marked out as someone who knows how to drink.
Mark marked his mark markedly and was marked out as a marked mark marker.
Translate that. It’s a legit sentence.
