Shane and Spectre talk about the shared axiom of individual rights that underpin all post-Enlightenment political structures – from the most classically conservative to the most progressive neo-liberal – and how this axiom is nothing more than wishful thinking. Then we get into some weird stuff and finish off with Disney’s darker, grittier Seven Dwarves reimagining, courtesy the Holocaust Cinematic Universe. After the StormKing outro there’s 15 minutes of bonus content – a doozy of a private conversation we accidentally recorded before the show.

They should make a game called Holocaust Simulator.
Lol, listen to this nerd, autisticly clapping his hands.
Thanks for the weekend show fellas. I was really confused when towards the end of the song there were more than 15 minutes left on the pod.
I’m surprised post-credits shenanigans haven’t cropped up earlier, and of course Spectre is responsible. Next time they’ll do the show entirely backwards, starting with the outro, and ending with the intro to TDS (please don’t sue), just for maximum fuckery.

My conception of free will is that there is two layers, the lower physical layer where there is, as Aristotle talks about, the Unmoved Mover, where logically everything results from everything else, and therefore from a materialistic perspective there is no room for free will. Then on top of that is the divine layer, where there is God, and the divine order. Where is the free will in that? In my view God permits you to have free will by asserting the divine over the physical, and this is where you have your own will, where your soul controls your… Read more »
I like it.
The divine-layer God you’re talking about is the prime mover. That unfathomable being exists outside of time, so for Him the unfolding of creation is known from beginning to end. But you exist within time, so from your persepctive you have free will, moment-to-moment. Yes yes, there are plenty of studies that show you unconsciously make decisions before you’re aware of them, and you retcon the idea of a decision making process. But you know from expereince this isn’t always true. And you can also deliberately change your unconscious processes through reason and will, such that you’re more likley to… Read more »
It’s been a while since I read Aristotle, but I believe for him the prime mover is a physical entity bound within physical space. It’s easy for a religious person to make this God, but I believe he himself does not do so necessarily. It’s been a bit since I read him, so I might be misinterpreting him.
Great show and the bonus content at the end was great as well.
We agonized over it tbh fam.
Shout out to Marty! His books are great.
First cliff hanger? I’m still waiting on that article about the Indians.
I’m like 75% sure action T4 wouldn’t have included dwarves. IIRC, it was limited to people who were severely disabled and dependent upon the state to live. Not sure though.
Correct. It was an emergency war effort to free up hospital beds for war casualties. Able bodied people who could take care of themselves were in no danger from T4. Holocaust fabulists have conflated it with a eugenics effort to eliminate all “imperfect” or “non-Aryan” people which is simply a lie.
Midgets are inherently immoral, wicked creatures. And I’m tired of pretending otherwise.
The liberal conception of rights focused on the individual because it basically evolved in response to the Old World view that God granted rights based on social role. The rights of the peasant weren’t the same as the rights of the King, or of the Church, or of a noble. John Miller had the right to mill in such and such a place and sell his goods on these days for this much money. The bourgeoisie decided they didn’t like this system, which placed great restrictions on what they could do with their property since it was effectively a granted… Read more »
Good stuff
Thanks. It was a pain to type out while pretending to work. This reply made me feel warm and fuzzy, so it was all worth it.
I would have said more but I too was at work. Seriously I like where your head is at. It’s an ongoing process reasoning this out. This was very helpful.
My novelty take on rights is that I want to take away every right, both assumed and unassumed, because I want Americans to suffer. I want Americans to feel real, true oppression; I want them to wonder day by day if the bomb collar on their neck is going to detonate based on the technological nightmare algorithm today. I want them to understand the idea of not even having their own full autonomy.
I am a spiteful, hateful creature and my spite and hate is directed at Americans.
Bro you sound hangry; go have a snack.
Man the intermittent fast is wreaking havoc on my mental state I wish I had been blessed with the fitness fairy like 20 years ago instead of the “be a book nerd midwit” fairy.
– Nature herself has imprinted on the minds of all the idea of God –
– Marcus Tullius Cicero
People don’t start by “believing” that rights come from god. God is a (perfectly legitimate) placeholder for the outer limit of the ability of the mind that organizes society to rationalize the violence that enforces the system of rights and responsibilities that fortifies the culture co-evolved with the racial phenotype whose optimal expression it serves. That is, you don’t “believe” they come from god, you say they come from god to pre-emptively resolve doubt as to the rightness of applying violence in upholding them. That’s what god is for, at least sociopolitically. The mass-mental shorthand of belief stems from the… Read more »
Excellent points! Thank you. I’m going to add this to my own exploration. Good stuff and perspective.
When the dynamism animating the sphere of civilized culture is artificially accelerated beyond a sustainable reciprocity with that of the racial nature from which it expanded, reactive movement only frees up alienated bodies to be thrown out toward the periphery, though the provisional ideologies justifying that movement presume to point toward the center. The erstwhile progenic white anxiety that fuels their momentum provides that such ideologies are unwittingly beholden to conditions of resource economy already influenced by the acceleration (the preferable and elusive before-time), and their adherents will always wind up shocked that they didn’t wind up where their plotted… Read more »

This sounds interesting, but I’m probably too grug to understand it.
You might just have to extend the time you infuse your ayahuasca with quartz crystals before pouring it over your balls when you sun them on the solstices.
In my new grug empire Everton has a Esoteric-Hitlerist-given right to kill a rat Jew a day.
As is tradition for TRS hosts, shane is in his middle age applying for a drivers license
I had a learner’s permit almost 20 years ago but it lapsed when I moved to Dublin. Gotta take 12 mandatory lessons before you get a full license in Ireland, so I’m just doing the needful, Saar.
In America, at least in my corner, you just need to study a pamphlet, fill out a multiple choice test, and take a road test. I doubt too many people are ever turned away (Dodge Chargers financed at 25% must flow!).
To paraphrase Moike paraphrasing the NY State DMV bureaucrat: “no drivers license? Impossible!”
Today is my birthday. It is exactly two weeks before our favorite Uncle’s one.
Happy birthday! Borzoi authorized me to say that.
Borzoi is still the boss over here at TRS, right?
Thanks very much!
Happy birthday.

Thank you!
Happy birthday, Chief!

Thank you!
Happy (probably belated) birthday, may the Oranje Blanje Blou fly once again and forever more.
That last 15 minutes sounded like half my show.
I haven’t listened yet…
Were they drunkenly shouting in an Australian accent!?
