Chicks love studio ghibli. I grab anything with this art style from the DVD section in the library and my wife loves it. I prefer older stuff but it’s consistently high quality over time.
Clearly made for ‘coming of age’ young girls but the visual detail in each one makes you not care. Moike got bored but ironically Howls Moving Castle is in my top 3 of all of them.

I fucking completely klutzed myself this morning getting ready for the gym. Put gym bag in passenger side doorway. Proceed to walk around behind my carmobile. Step my left foot where the concrete slab meets the grass and fall on my side and bust my ankle. OK, I did used to copy books I borrowed from the library, I would type them out as I read them and saved them to text files so I’d have a copy for my own personal use. Very autistic and I guess highly illegal, but it’s what ancient people used to do.
I doubt he could refrain from adding commentary- so it’d probably be well north of 80 hours in length.

Ghibli has visibly middle age characters. It’s an AI generation issue, not Ghibli. AI Art is just inherently sterile and can’t generate the subtleties and nuances of actually good art. I played around with it for a while and while I could generate stuff in styles that made it look pretty enjoyably aesthetic it’s very clear that there’s a soul of some kind missing in it because the human touch betrays the inner life of an artist.

Literature has the same copyright complications especially when it comes to international publishing. Some guy tried to make his own sequel of LOTR and Tolkien estate shut that down.
There’s a scene in the IT book iirc (I heard about it secondhand and I refuse to read the book to confirm) where one of the characters watches Rodan and while other monster movies were mentioned and Pennywise takes their forms, instead of turning into Rodan he turns into a generic giant bird thing. Guess the one true weakness of the eldritch predatory abomination of Pennywise was Toho’s merciless lawyer team! Studio Ghibli is good stuff. Many of the stories are written like fables and the animations are top tier.
