That story regarding the Rubber Soul vinyl copy is very telling about how a lot of older, more Boomery folks approach record collecting and how they are valued. They’re convinced that *their* copy should be highly valued just because it’s old and they enjoyed it a lot and they’re the main character, after all. Nothing to do with supply and demand or rarity and the like. No, it’s valuable because it’s an old vinyl that *they* enjoyed.
I’ve been watching this whole collecting and price problem for years. Since real jobs in this country don’t exist anymore. Increasingly every little thing or hobby that could be financialized is being financialized, and slowly turning into some kind of middle man grift get rich quick scheme fake job. And all it usually accomplishes after infecting everything, is making it extremely uninteresting to normal and casual people (or people who discovered it late). And turning the entire thing into some financial game that is everything but “fun”.
Fun fact Jesse, they actually discovered that the chemicals in latex and rubber gloves do more damage to historicall documents than the oils on human hands so they’re actually back to handling documents by hand

Ironically I just finished reading Marvel The Untold Story by Sean Howe and if you’re Jew woke, it’s wildly entertaining because it’s just Jews screwing over other Jews while still fucking over goys. You can basically see the start of Image comics as a goy revolt. The stuff with Isaac Perlmutterin in the early 2000s in the book is fascinating since some Marvel staff actually felt they could get whacked off because of his Israeli connections.
I found a mint copy of The Cult Sonic Temple a couple weeks ago for 20 bucks. That’s a solid purchase.

A lot of the old games I like to play on PS1 you can just download in the PS store now. The nostalgia wears off quick. As badass as those games were when I was 5-10..
That era of computer games has aged very badly. Best to just leave your memories of them as is and don’t revisit them.
I used to enjoy collecting retro games. But now that there’s a big scene of fags on YT who love overpaying for things and showing them off I don’t even bother. Thrift stores/flea markets dried up and now it’s just speculators who bought up everything and try to sell it for inflated prices. I got in to the hobby because it was cheap and I couldn’t afford a 360, but now things are crazy expensive and there’s no “thrill of the hunt” anymore it’s just browsing the wares of some scalper. I remember when FuncoLand had stacks of NES games some for as low as 25 cents. They couldn’t give them away.
A lot of those retro games are corroding or beginning to anyway. The little battery in NES games are starting to wear out so people might be able to still play but they won’t be able to save games/progress in the few games that had that feature. I think it’s starting to effect SNES games now.
It’s pretty easy to replace those batteries, and them dying doesn’t affect the ROM. I think the only thing where the battery dying will actually break the game and make it unplayable is a certain model of Capcom arcade board that stores encryption keys in RAM.

All the people whole collected Vidya games. Like I had all the PS2 SNK and Capcom fighters. And they are worth jack shit since publishers Remastered and bundled them to make available for download on contemporary consoles

Finally got a chance to listen to the Friday show this morning and losing my mind listening to Mike talking about DS9. It’s like he watched the episodes when they first aired and hasn’t watched them since.
That’s all of Mike’s media takes. I just skip whenever Mike starts talking about media as he rarely knows what he’s talking about.
