Restaurants simply don’t care Sven. They don’t care about the million small details they get wrong, or even the big details such as sitting you in a crappy place. These girl wait staff just want the socially obligated tip but without any of the work or good faith. Having worked at a higher end restaurant that was detail oriented – it’s safe to say that you have to dine out at expensive places for them to give any consideration towards your experience. And unless you’re willing to spend $150+ on a meal for two, then you can forget about having… Read more »

Need to test the battery when the car is running. You need to see above 14. V to know the alternator is working.
There is probbly a drain.
A test light on the fuses will get you close.
The test mike describes is pretty good too.
The fix is depending on what is causing the draw. If you can find it.
You can fix it
A cheap multimeter is fine. Seriously
They’re fine

Finding a parasitic draw can be maddening. If the car is going to sit for long periods of time, just unhook the negative battery cable.

MAGAtards I was talking to last night seem to think that the soldier was assassinated, put into the “self driving” cyber truck and the battery was blown to cover it all up. When I asked who would have done it and why? They said Iran or China or Putin. Not Russia but Putin. It was surreal.

I used to live in Blairsville the town Dean’s Diner is in. My nostalgia for this place is immeasurable. If I went back and ate there now, I would probably agree with Mike’s assessment.
Here’s the thing. You have to remember that eating out used to be a luxury. Even a diner would be a special treat.
If you ever go back to Dean’s, I suggest getting the hot roast beef sandwich (it has gravy to cover the dryness) and my mom is a big fan of their pies.

Test the battery, get a shop (as you lot insist on calling garages. Presumably shortened from workshop?) to do it with a proper battery tester that will put a load on it.
Just using a multi meter isn’t enough.
Bad weather kills off a dying battery quickly.
When the engine is running, use a multi meter across the two battery terminals to see if it’s charging whilst running (should be c14.5v).
Or again, get the shop to check.

Boiling water is handy for cleaning battery terminals.

Mike, being the big brained man he is, has already learned how to do a quiescent drain test. Google will show you a lot if you have the slightest ability.
A decent shop will always start at the beginning for the fault diagnosis themselves.
You can’t take most customers word for anything as most customers are fucking idiots.
You’ll need the multi meter on DC. And range it to 12v if it isn’t auto ranging.

AGM is absorbent glass mat.

Literally everything is slop media for me, because I can’t unitask and focus on one thing. If I just sit and watch or listen to something, my mind wanders and I think about a million other things. I’m going to bake cookies and make fudge while I listen to today’s show.

Oh and for the settings, why does it matter? Yes its all “12V” batteries but that’s a generalization. The different chemistry types all sit at different voltages, depending on how charged they are, and when charging, have different voltage and amperage needs at different states of charge. A lithium-iron-phosphate battery (Lifepo4, not used in cars) its normal to sit at 13.8V when fully charged, compared to say 12.7 on an absorbed glass-mat (AGM) lead-acid battery. That higher voltage on lithium batteries needs higher charging voltages (14.2 to 14.6V, for example) which will destroy lead acid by breaking down too much… Read more »

Good info. I’m guessing the other car with the electrical problem has a bad ground somewhere.

We got about 4 to 5 inches of snow yesterday, then freezing rain last night that left about a quarter to a half of inch of ice over everything and more snow today. So I ain’t going anywhere, driveway can wait.

Mike I’m not an automotive or mechanical guy at all, but the battery could have a few issues here. so: 1) Typical car battery is going to be about 4-5 years of service, and yes spergs I know this varies. It’s normal to change it out every presidential cycle. If you’re not sure how old it is, any old drive through oil change place can test the battery and more or less figure it out. 2) If the battery terminals are dirty like you mentioned, and you see green crunchy flakes in that gunk, that’s oxidized copper. The actual wire… Read more »

fyi, judging by a pic from PM, 9/14 victims of the Narlins bollard incident are HUWHITE.
Not as “interesting” as some spiritual boomer divorce-guy blowing up a cyber-truck, but y’know, plenty of White people dead.

H/T to Trophy Husband on BANG, but two of the injured “Whites” were apparently IDF:

Seems like any public space anywhere in the world is crawling with IDF these days.

The death panel has joined the absorbed glass-mat master race of car batteries?
And yes if you set your tender to Lithium setting it is a 100% chance of over-volting and destroying the battery. Not sure if it’d catch on fire, I don’t want to find out haha

Sven, I since you’re our resident football expert, can you explain to me what an “illegal black in the back” is? The penalized a team over the weekend for this offense, and I had no idea what that meant.
