I’m the same age as you and I was a young guitarist when the black album came out. I was getting good enough to jam with the older guys and they absolutely mocked any Metallica post Cliff Burton. Looking back they were right.
The first two albums with Newsted were great but the music Metallica has released post the Black album(’91) has been absolute shit.
I did like ‘And Justice For All’. But like I said the older guys weren’t having it. I’m going to go ahead and say this: Suicidal Tendencies is one of my favorite bands of all time. Rocky George has one of the best melodic sounds on lead guitar that you’ll ever hear.

I saw Slayer play in Charlotte on their last tour before their retirement. Anthrax, Testament, Lamb of God, and Behemoth were supporting acts. It was actually a very good concert.
