helicopters have the fate of being a second screen line like one would see with cruisers in naval warfare, i think all war kind of goes through these cycles.
helis and tanks seem in general now to be a cruiser line moreso, sure they are used as a offensive force, but just like cruisers went from armored cruisers flanking and maneuvering on their own, then they became lighter armoured because it didnt matter or if they were more armored it was pointless frankly, they just became higher force ships than destroyers, but also easier targets etc.
