So was the Palestinians disarmed after the war ended in 1945? Was there not a lot of Palestinians fighting for the British? If so what happened to the veterans and their weapons in 1948?
The Palestinians were never particularly well armed. At least not until the 80s. The level of arms in Gaza is actually very high relative to Palestinian capabilities historically. And yes, they did fight for the British, but they were on horseback and never would have had anything more than light arms.
