I disagree with religion being a different form of thought from the real world, though I realize that your opinion on this was the supposition of a lot of respectable enlightenment philosophers and german idealists. However I will say that Aquinas himself did partition things that he said could be known through reason by anybody, and things that could only be held through faith. The things he said could be understood by anybody through reason were Prudence, Justice, Courage, and Temperance.
