Alot of white Americans have Irish ancestry. So what is happing in Ireland is especially triggering to white Americans as opposed to other European countries
Everyone acts as though Americans with English ancestry don’t exist yet what is happening in England is equally triggering. A lot of us Americans have mixed Irish-English-Scottish-Welsh ancestry so we can’t draw distinctions: everything going on over there is triggering. Seeing Unionists and Republicans in Northern Ireland unite against the common foe has been particularly gratifying to those of us who have this mixed British-Irish heritage.
