People will always bury their face in something to escape excess social interactions -especially in a multi-cultural American hellscape . We’re not evolved to withstand socializing from the moment we wake up to when we go to sleep. In the before cell phone times, on the school bus we were all reading books or comics or magazine or doodling in a notebook or doing homework we forgot to do. Just a way for boomers to look down and feel superior because without that they literally have nothing to feel superior about.

Humor that doesn’t age well but is huge for a mass audience for a brief moment in time is definitely a thing in late 20th century mass media.
Perfect fictional example of this would be Rebo & Zooty on Babylon 5. Zooty zoot zoot!

My uncle jump scared me when I was 9 staying at his house on the Marine Base in Hawaii. He shoved a dead giant centipede on a paper plate in my face. Talk about trauma
I listened to the Audio books one summer 10-15 years ago. While working in the forest clearing the underbrush.
Good times were had.
Not sure what it is called in English, in Sweden we call it röjning.

Quit watching Saturday Night Live circa 1995. The exodus of Chris Farley, Phil Hartman, Dana Carvey, Jon Lovitz, Rob Schneider, Chris Rock, Kevin Nealon, and the rest from the cast was devastating. It’s true that the late 80s/early90s stuff isn’t as funny as we tend to remember, but it was still way better than what came after.

Funniest SNL bit ever was Mr. Robinson’s Neighborhood with Eddie Murphy. The joke was literally just that blacks are stupid and do crime.
My brother saw Faith no More open up for GnR and Metallica. Mike Patton got mummified in duct tape and rolled around on stage until he fell off. That was 30 years ago.

I knew a person who was a boomer who thought one of their grand relatives was Jewish simply because they were good with a violin and had a photo of them literally playing a violin. The Jewish connection in their mind being the violin being the official soundtrack of the holocaust.

Rachel Dratch was the short chubby SNL actress in the libtard lovahs skit. I liked how each scene ended with Will Ferrell getting irritated and pushing her off of him.

You think juice good, ah?…
I get you more juice.
I was on a road trip to visit family and I stayed up late in our hotel room watching SNL with my dad when the Toonces skit first aired. My dad laughed so hard and for so long he was having trouble breathing. And he repeatedly brought it up in the car the next morning.
