Devin Townsend…. for a long time I didn’t even know he was doing guitarwork. I first came across his performance as the lead singer on Steve Vai’s Sex&Religion album. Crazy stuff, so overblown, overstretched… those lyrics too… so ridiculous. At the same time I was also shocked by that weird crap composed by Steve Vai.

I think all the Devin Townsend Project albums were at least solid. Ocean Machine, Infinity and Accelerated Evolution are great but they are from the era when he didn’t really know what he was doing with production. Alien, City and The New Black are some of the best extreme metal ever imo.
