Red Letter Media guys made the point Verhoeven intends to make satire of America and accidentally makes some of the best American films ever.
He’s so good at it I really don’t feel the satire part of it. It’s more just sarcastic. Robocop, Total Recall, Starship Troopers. Verhoeven is having a blast with these films and you can tell. “Satire” must be cover or they just really suck at satire lol
