I don’t remember all of the details about the House of Saud being descended of donmeh jews thing, but there was an Egyptian journalist in like the early 1960s who first made this claim, he apparently wrote a whole thing about it, did research and all that shit, but I’ve never actually been able to find the piece in English to read it. I do know the House of Saud declared a fatwah against the journalist in response to it, make of that what you will.

Green Mile would be apart of the Oscar Bait Historical Drama cinematic universe. This was a big thing in the 90s and the Aughts with the backdrop usually being the Civil Rights Movement and Jim Crow. I have assume this was a reaction to all of those 50s nostalgia movies in the 80s and Hollywood wanted to remind White America not to get too nostalgic for that time period because “it wasn’t great for everyone, Whitey!”

The NPR vocal filters are on another level (but it’s mostly a close-miked Neumann U87 with the bass rolled off)—it makes everyone sound like a contemplative scholar. And Tony is hilarious as always— great addition to the death panel. Jesse had a bunch of funny quips and puns that went unnoticed, but Svenfans get it… we appreciate the subtle genius of Jesse. “Long cabin republicans” was given its due, at least.

Not absolving the boomers on the union question, but I think they aren’t self aware enough to understand but I think in some cases they oppose unions because of the political ideology they espouse.
Anyone who understands the way their dues are used to promote ideology and causes through politics promoted by union management not the majority of workers, but you hold your nose because you need the representation.
That is granting them far, far, far too much nuance. They hate unions because they’re no longer working, ergo, unions represent a drag on consumer prices.
