I’m almost 40 and grew up in an all white area but they were experimenting with other methods of learning to read besides phonics. I think the method that my age group was taught was mostly based off of memorization and guessing what words sound like and mean. This was 30 years ago, so this method has been around for awhile. Venus is a literal hell world because of volcanic activity, it’s the most volcanically active planet in the solar system, that’s why it has an atmosphere that’s about 95% CO2, not because of a runaway greenhouse effect.
The volcanic activity created the high atmospheric CO2 on Venus ─ but volcanic heat is not related to the Greenhouse Effect. Yes, the high atmospheric CO2 is the reason why it is so hot on Venus, but via the mechanism of the Greenhouse Effect. The Greenhouse Effect simply means that Infrared rays from the sun get absorbed by the planet and its carbon dioxide-rich atmosphere (thus heating it). I agree, but the problem with Venus isn’t that some imbalance led to a runaway greenhouse effect, the problem with Venus is runaway volcanism and no photosynthetic life or other mechanism to process the atmospheric CO2. Though, I suppose Venus doesn’t find this to be a problem, it’s probably quite content being a sweltering ball of volcanism.

Climate is an emergent, adaptive phenomena that has been changing since there has been a planet here with an atmosphere. Every form of life alters climate and atmospheric composition, there isn’t some ideal state that climate or atmospheric carbon levels are supposed to be that humans are altering. I agree with most of what you say above. However, I disagree that carbon dioxide is not a pollutant. It absolutely is ─ and the green weenies can’t just “plant more trees” and ride more bikes to make up the difference. For sure, CO2 is not as destructive as many other pollutants like photochemical smog, forest fire smoke, and acid rain or mercury from burning coal. Also, acidification of the oceans is a problem if CO2 levels get too high. I say CO2 isn’t a pollutant because massive amounts of it can and have been released into the atmosphere by naturalistic processes over the course of Earth’s climatological history. I tend to reserve polluntant for substances that wouldn’t be in the environment other than via human activity.
As to those deoxygenated dead zones, why isn’t anyone bioengineering some tough and quickly reproducing phytoplankton to colonize those zones? I mean, I guess that could have unforeseen consequences, but then we just engineer some very hungry fish and then we’ll have a new problem to solve.

There’s a lot of epistemological problems. First of all, you’d need to have accurate metrics on global temperatures over thousands of years. Which you don’t.
Then you’d need to establish what the “ideal concentration” of carbon dioxide “should be” in the atmosphere which is a pretty laughable idea on its face.
Is there likely a feedback loop that maintains some sort of relative climate homeostasis? Probably.
Finally, if carbon dioxide levels were higher in previous times since we’re just rereleasing sequestered carbon deposits, maybe the Earth “wants” to be hotter again.
Actually you can get a pretty good atmospheric record going back hundreds of thousands of years. They have this through ice core sampling. The drill a mile into an ice sheet and can sample bubbles in the ice from when it formed to get an atmospheric composition. Its actually not too hard to get a record of average temperatures (within a ballpark estimate) just given when ice grows and recedes.
I’d say probably not to homeostasis, take a look at long ass reconstructed charts of global average temperature and CO2 level going back 100s of millions of years: that shit has been all over the place. I mean there is this highly flammable and reactive gas in the atmosphere called oxygen, it didn’t even used to be there then these things called plants came about and started belching it out into the air. There wouldn’t be fires if it wasn’t for this oxygen shit, we should probably do something about it.
