Depends on the car for your ice vs hybrid vs ev comparison. In the case of the Ford Maverick (a high-demand vehicle), the current order banks (people placing a custom order at a Ford dealership) are overwhelmingly the hybrid, because it’s just so much more mpg in city driving due to regenerative braking; the price difference is negligible compared to the ice version of that truck, but reports for real-world combined differences are 10mpg. That is looking at it from a perspective that you currently have a vehicle that needs replacing due to it being unfixable or unsalvageable, or you have already fallen into the trap of leasing vehicles. I currently spend about 250-300 euro in gas per month. So even if it does double the MPG, i’d only save 125-150 euro a month. So over 15 years that’s 27.000 euro. I feel compelled to make an effort post here. Ships use a tiny amount of fuel per weight of cargo moved, compared to any other form of transport and the larger the ship is the smaller that ratio.
