One thing that people seem to forget is that in medieval Europe Christians banned the native ancestral religion but allowed both Judaism and Islam. Why was that? No Christian can answer this, but Christianity was a cucked religion from the start.
I try not to label myself an atheist due to the related cringe but I feel like I’m more concerned with religious tradition than the average church goer at this point. Die hard Christians have probably never been more than 5-10% of any given nation. If I’m not mistaken, there were about that many in the Roman Empire when Constantine made the religion the state religion. Around 10% goes to chruch in Sweden, a country that have been actively secularized by the state for the last hundred years. Christianity has been strongest in countries where the religion was linked to national resistance, like in Poland and Ireland. Once the pressure ease, like in Ireland, piety starts to wain. Poland will go that way too sooner or later.
I think Christianity has never been historically popular. The only reason for its spread is forced conversion and that it’s an exclusivist religion. Just like communism and neo-marxism. Traditional ancestral religions never cared about proselytising or forcing their ideology on others.

In Japan, prior to 1945, the State was the Church. Likewise with pre-Christian Europe. Christianity introduced into Ancient Europe the concept of conversion and individual choice rather than traditional ancestral religion. Likewise, Liberalism introduced the idea of Freedom of Religion into Japan.

I began to loose the faith when I realized that the Congo is more than 90% Christian and Japan is more than 90% Pagan. I abandoned the faith when I realized that everything about Christianity which I loved was derived from Europe rather than the Bible, and that everything good in the Bible was already practiced in Europe. But my family and in-laws are all still Evangelical Christians.
I think the best possible solution to this is to have freedom of religion, where Christians can do what they want. While the state has quasi-religious secular rituals which bind all members of the nation together. This is what national socialist Germany did well.
