Distilled water has no minerals that naturally occur in drinking water. It’ll keep you hydrated for a time, but not good for people or animals.

The people saying there can be legionarries disease and such are also correct.
However, if you drink distilled water, the water will leach minerals out of you.

They sell distilled water by the jug at stores for the cheap, it’s obviously not completely filtered. I had a Chem professor who would drink one think of purely distilled water he made in the lab a week, he said it helps detox. Drinking it regular would fuck up your electrolytes extremely and could do damage.

I used to have one of those indoor air conditioners. I ended up putting it up on top of a microwave stand. and putting a full size rubber garbage can like the outdoor kind next to it for the water spill off Then I drag that over to the bathtub every day or 2 to dump. The distilled water standing open is very easy breeding ground for several forms of bacteria.
I know mine would develop an orange scum.

Water your home garden with condensation water. Put a heater in front of your ac to enable tempered air. You’ll get a nice dry air at the temperature you like.

The reason you’re told not to drink water produced by a dehumidifier is because it wasn’t intended for that. It hasn’t been approved for it, and in practice, the only realistic problem would be inappropriately high amounts of heavy metals in the tubing. As far as distilled water, you can drink it, but you shouldn’t switch to doing so as your norm, unless you also start using mineral supplements. The reason why you do not drink AC-water is because you can end up with legionnaires or other fun bacterial infections. The water might be distilled but the piping of the AC isn’t.

Air conditioner water comes out of a small, damp, unlit space which has the potential to mold and fester with bacteria, most notably legionnaires disease. Also the evaporator is going to have manufacturing oil and other contaminants.
You could probably put your A/C on a high shelf and filter the condensate water through a sawyer filter and drink it in a pinch.
Yup, airborne bacteria, mold spores, dust etc. Get caught in that condensate and breed in the water produced. You’d be amazed what builds up im the drain lines.
