The dry mode typically lowers the cycle of the compressor and switches the fans to exhaust only such that the system is only working to dehumidify and not exert the work nessesary to cool. It’s a bit more effecient than cool mode. This phenomenon can be seen with any built for purpose dehumidifier unit, which for certain dont cool anything, but have the same compression refridgeration system in principle.
