On the J6 question: I think they mistook the year’s worth of rioting before as a grassroots movement against the system instead of a system approved terror campaign against middle America. They saw how “effective” the riots “against” the system were and thought “well if we do that for Trump, the system will capitulate to us just like it’s been capitulating to BLM rioters all year.” Unfortunately for them, the timidity of the system in the face of social outrage was just an illusion.
I doubt your average Jan. 6th attendee had thought it through like that.
Probably not exactly, but there was messaging out there among conservatives (ie Tucker) stating that rioting does work to affect change.

I think you may be right about that in the initial stages of the Soviet Union. But I think Stalin started to turn that on the jews. The apex of that being the purges. When I was in high school there was a guy that moved to America from Kazakhstan. He said that half the country was criminals the other half was the government. The Soviet Union collapsing was a big deal that fucked up a lot of people’s lives.
