But if the documents were all in coded language, why did they need to destroy them? Like, wouldn’t the premeditated destruction of those documents itself be evidence of some kind of wrongdoing? Also, why didn’t they kill all the witnesses first?
In a war, the losing side destroys documents as a matter of course, especially if it is being successfully invaded. It isn’t proof of trying to hide crimes, it is simply normal behavior.
