Mattogno mentions the pink discloration thing. As for the question about the engine. It determines engine load based on the manifold pressure, and thus injects less fuel if its only spinning the flywheel. Revving an engine without load doesn’t actually stress it out, and won’t produce a lot of exhaust fumes. Unless you have people rolling coal or some shit… As for mixing Diesel and Petrol, Diesel in a petrol engine makes it so it can’t detonate the fuel, and it stalls. Death Panel spot on. Car biz doesn’t like EVs because there is nothing to service. Dealerships have 4 main profit centers, sales, finance, service and parts. Service is considered fixed ops because it isn’t as variable as the other departments. If all the cars go EV, the most reliable source of income for a dealer will be wiped out. The car business will adapt but they don’t want to make these changes.

They require very little. Tires, wiper fluid? EVs utilize regular disc brakes in situations where the car is moving slowly or the brakes need to lock up so the pads last forever. No lubricated parts. I guess the axles but there’s no differentials or anything like that. One of my close friends is a dealer for like 5 brands. He likes the direction the car business is going because it makes more people aware of product. He’s a cheap bastard tho so I know he will be reluctant to make big changes even if the market dictates it.
Are there any EV owners here who can say if certain models actually work as intended and live up to normal daily use?
i rented one and the main take away is that the “range” they state is from a 100% charge down to a 0% charge. which you’ll never do. so take at least 20% off of the number of miles it says you can go without charging.
I’m pretty sure the reason dealerships don’t want to switch to EVs is because the money printing part of their operation is the service department and EVs don’t have as many certified techs and fewer small replaceable parts to gouge customers on.

Batteries are the achilles heel of EV cars. Batteries last 6-7 years max and cost 5-7K to replace. Also most of the worlds lithium mines are owned by china. For now they remain a rich mans toy.
I don’t know much about EV’s but their batteries extremely sensitive and temperamental too. no way current car insurance could support a 15% saturation in the market

That is because Tesla has their own process for chassis production, where they “stamp” the whole unibody at once. Contrast that with the traditional method of welding component pieces. After a collision, Teslas can’t be repaired by cutting out a chassis component and welding a new one in. So any damage can potentially total them.

My reasons for ‘fuck EVs’ are numerous. My state intends to stop selling gas vehicles within the decade and will tax the hell out of you for getting one elsewhere; you have to get an expensive setup to charge at home (I already pay $300/mo for power and gas) or sit in a parking lot while you charge and, worst of all, is the fucking power grid can’t handle it.
I get emails all summer long about not running appliances until 9 at night or that we’ll be having planned blackouts. Seems pretty unsustainable to me.
Yep. New York State is going to require new builds/remodels to have a separate, 50 amp, service for EV charging ports soon. And we are phasing out fossil fuel heat sources, too. I’m a contractor, so I talk to architects, engineers, building inspectors and utility companies on a daily basis. This shit is really going to strangle the working class. It’s honestly very scary.

You need the expensive set up if you want to charge *quickly*, but using the fast charger also causes the batteries to degrade faster. My reasons for disliking full EVs is that they perform poorly in cold temperatures and are not as efficient at high speeds. The main case where electric motors win is when you do a lot of urban driving, because there’s a lot of start/stop traffic.
