In every sci-fi universe I can recall, the pilots and operators of equipment are constantly reading data and looking at charts. Star Trek alone has tons of scenes where someone is reading (especially captains).

As a truckdriver I am told a lot that we will be replaced by robots soon. But my truck has collision mitigation system. If you’re about to rear end someone it hits the brakes.
