If the battery was stone dead and then you go through a deep freeze, there will be no jumping it. You may be able to start it while you are connected to another car. But when you disconnect the other car, the car will die. That usually indicates an alternator issue. But it’s probably the battery.
It’s usually just dry. Heat kills batteries, and then the cold triggers the failure. And it’s an AGM you have to make sure you have at least 14 volts off the alternator or you have to put it on a boost charge every couple of weeks. Toyota alternators for example only put out 13.3 volts or so. You can boost it by tricking the regulation circuit with a diode if you really want.

Those emergency jump things are pure bullshit. I’ve gotten three of them as Christmas gifts from distant relatives that wanted to get me something cheap, and not a single goddamn one of them has ever successfully jumped any car I’ve ever owned.
I have one that works well but they don’t keep their charges for very long and I have to plug it in every so often for it to do anything but it jumps my car well and I can charge a cell phone off of it, even a bluetooth speaker a few times (mostly got it for camping, but also travel emergency jump)

I think every American car built before 1990 leaked oil by 10 years/100K miles. It was just a fact of life of owning a used car in the 90’s & 2000’s. Do modern cars have that problem?
Oh yea you still have seepage at valve covers or the crankshaft wheel. I have an old truck that does that but I never lose more than 1/4 a quart per interval.

When I first started driving I got maybe my first or one of my first oil changes and they stripped the bolt and it was causing a leak (learned my lesson right there, always change your own oil). I didn’t know shit about fixing cars so I asked some relatives what to do and they had the genius idea to JB weld the bolt to stop the leak. You can get a car battery charger that plugs into your wall. Whenever I have let a battery die I use one to recharge it, you just plug it into the wall put the little clips on your battery and leave it charging overnight.

My vehicle is due for inspection. I trust my mechanic unconditionally. He’s hip to the JQ. Whenever I bring him my vehicle I always update his firmware. I also grew up and live in NJ not far from Mike.

NJ you only had to get it inspected every 3 years. I got caught off guard when I moved to PA and found out it was every year. Because I lease my cars so I just never had to do the inspection

Topping up oil is more than half the battle. The key is after a period of time the color turns brown/black which indicates the need to a complete oil change.
