I think Striker’s asessment of Burke is incorrect. Burke’s view might be summerized as being 1) in favor of closer union of church and state with policy explicitly informed by faith 2)in favor of limitations on democracy with substantial authority held by property holders 3) law is the foundation of all authority, framing law should involve compromise and be part of a continuity of the past to the future rather than ad hoc expediant solutions

I have heard that Hegel thought that human life was an ever evolving process in which everything would get better and better. More intelligent, more moral ect. And he was very prominent in his day. I don’t know. From what I know about philosophers, which isn’t much, I would say that Schopenhauer is much better and I believe he was the big guys favorite philosopher too.
