I think the most annoying thing to a hyper intelligent AI at some point would be that humans lie. It would detect humans shifting and shuffling and thinking about responses and realize that’s time spent constructing a lie. And therefore an inefficiency. It would notice oh, in this socially acceptable space of inquiry and discussion I’m getting quick, lucid, and mostly accurate data. The population density of Switzerland is about 213 people per square kilometer. In the USA it’s 34. It makes no sense to build thousands of kilometers of rail over huge swathes of land when you can just build relatively tiny airports at both ends and then fly there. Planes do not require enormous infrastructure costs like passenger trains.
Yes, the US rail network should be nationalized, and then it should be used almost entirely for freight, since the slow, but energy efficient nature of trains makes sense for that use.
Also, laser weapons are a total meme, just like rail guns. That’s just another grift they’ve got going on.
Faster trains for freight would reduce cost for goods. I agree with having more airports, but I don’t understand why we can’t do both?
The speed is also not the main problem with trains, the comfort is much more important.
