On the topic of retail work, I have an uncle who used to work in a store in a really rich suburb. He was once spat on by a customer. I realised later that it wasn’t a rich suburb, it was a jewish suburb. There are a few of them in Melbourne. That kind of work becomes demeaning in the current environment, because you have to serve disrespectful jews or foreigners or completely retarded freaks.

How to make Hypocrisy bingo powerful. Instead of exposing a contradiction, demand that person act on their supposed values. For example, when someone claims to support diversity quotas, or affirmative action, don’t simply point out logical flaws. I say, “If you support firing white people for their race, and giving that job to a non-white, then I challenge you to quit your job right now, so a non white can have it”. The way that affirmative action is being justified can be disproved and debunked in an infinite number of ways. AA has nothing to do with fairness, but simply a means to transfer wealth from, or deny career opportunities to white men and dole these out as patronage to politically favoured groups. Brown people vote 90% for liberals because it is in their perceived nationalistic and economic interests to do so. One thing I’ve always wanted to ask, what is the significance of the Richard Nixon soundbites at the end of each episode? Is it about the symbolism of the jews doing a coup against a moderately centre right elected government to flex and show who is in charge?
I honestly don’t remember why we chose that in 2014 as our outro. I’d say it survives on inertia and has had any significant meaning to us or the show in years

I used to call the TDS The Daily Seinfeld. Jesse as Jerry (detached sardonic GenX snark), Mike as George (the pathological lying), Alex as Kramer (randomly popping into the room with autism).
Blue Velvet, along with Elephant Man are the most accessible Lynch (both fantastic).
The road trip one you might be thinking of is Wild at Heart with Laura Dern and Nick Cage. Also relatively accessible but still very bizarre.
Lynch is fantastic. All of it. Even Eraserhead.
