Based, and yea, I’ve received Pell grants too – they’re vital if you’re poor and white and going to college, because you’re certainly not going to qualify for any of those race-based grants (i.e. most of them). The only way I’m going to get a degree and pay off college is by living with my parents, which might be what I have to do to just to make ends meet. Seems like if you don’t have that option, or excess luck, then you’re fucked.

Pell Grants aren’t just for blacks. I got one. It’s not a huge grant but it helps. Most people I went to high school with working class families got one.

I don’t think it should be free, but I’d support nominal fees at the community college level, and maybe $15k for your bachelors from a state school as long as you’re meeting a certain academic minimum. Private universities maybe give the students $15k towards their tuition. My parents paid for my first year and a half of college right out of high school and you know what I did? Just make a plan and start paying it off every Sunday/Saturday (make a calendar note on your phone or w/e) until you get into a routine and then space it out so you never put more on it that you can pay off. The wife and I use ours to pay everything from utilities to $5 runs to the store. There’s a lot with good cashback offers if you can be smart with it, you can make a decent return. Someone else said this, but go for the Citibank Costco Visa and use it like a debit card (aka pay it off at the end of each month). My wife and I do this and at the end of the year we get a check for at least a thousand dollars back and then maybe $600 in Costco credit. We never carry a balance on it.

I went to a Peruvian restaurant when I lived in Chicago. They had a whole Tempura fried section on the menu, a la Japan. They also had sushi. South American is only slightly like Mexican. Its not heavily spiced. They have excellent grilled meat. The llapingachos (potato pancakes, but like real pancakes, not chunky Polish style) were awesome. Recommend.
