I was born in 1966 so have some memories of the Moon landings. The idea that people would come to believe that it didn’t happen, or simply not care, is almost as disturbing as the idea of a non-white USA.

I had a Jewish philosophy professor who had a severe phobia of death. Her entire focus in philosophy was to find logical arguments for immortality. Not out of curiosity but to avoid accepting death as a fact of life. I would understand if she was a kid, or if it were just a couple moments of death anxiety. But for a 55-60 year old to have a crippling fear of death, mentioning it every other week or so, is just pitiful. Ultimately you need to have faith that you came into the world for a reason, and that your leaving it will be equally meaningful.
There are Jews who believe in reincarnation and/or an afterlife (hence they have Jesus boiling in semen) —ideas about the fate of the soul which no doubt they picked up from Egyptians, Persians, and Greeks. And yet for most Jews, even for the religiously observant, it seems to have made no real impact. Conversely even atheists from a Christian ethnic background don’t have this intense fear of death. So it isn’t strictly speaking just a question of religious belief alone.
The space topic could work if it was a homogenous society, but now talking about it sounds like a distraction because you need a “trustful” and White society in order to do stuff about space!
