“Porn” is mainstreamed. Maybe years ago, it was seen as taboo and amoral. Now, you have the word being used to describe everything desirable by all kinds of people. People into collecting, nice cars, guns, all use it to describe photographing their hobby. They even post pictures of their dinner calling it porn. Just seems like it doesn’t carry the weight it ought to. Finding another descriptor is probably a good idea, but I agree that new term is kind of clunky.

I live in my hometown and it was always very White working class. It’s slowly getting more diverse sadly but we have our one jew on the ground. Some guy found out he was writing under like 10 different names too so that his talking points seemed more normalized. The Man in the High Castle sucked so hard. Obviously I knew it would be blatantly anti-nazi, but I could put that aside to enjoy some alternate history that was of interest to me. Except every character was so unlikeable, there was absolutely zero levity to it, and it took itself waaayyy too seriously. Plus it was just boring as fuck. I tried the entire first season to give it a chance but then there was that final scene in season one where some supernatural shit happened to the Japanese guy and I said fuck this.

Rankin is Scottish, Scotch – Irish. The name originated in Flanders during the 12th Century. A warrior during this time was called Reynard by his companions. It means fox, great cunning. It went through changes in 12C and 13C. Reynardkyn, which soon contracted to “Reynkyn” ; and Reynkyn was finally contracted to “Rankin”. I volunteer at a local Heritage and Genealogy Library. This is where the info comes from. Fwiw, it appears Rankins were lowland Scots and many moved to Ireland in the early 17th century. Hard core Presbyterians.
