I started watching The Informant based on Striker’s recommendation on Telegram a few weeks ago. I back up his recommendation; it is very good. There was another Spanish-language show he raved about (I think it was The Bronze Garden), but it didn’t have English subtitles available, at least for me.
I wouldn’t expect Striker, being a greasy Mediterranean, to understand The Northman or feel it touch his soul.
The reason why art sucks is that 1. Beauty and order are white supremacy, 2. Truth and critique of contemporary culture are racism and antisemitism

Northman was great. Eggers is a visual storyteller, pair that with old Danish sagas and the dialogue will inevitably be a lesser focus. It’s a classic revenge story within a bloody, believable Nordic world. I liked it, and recommend giving it a watch.
When I was a teenager I used to get completely destroyed on plastic bottle Kamchatka vodka. Makes me gag thinking about it now.
The Northman isn’t paper thin. It’s just not explicit in telling you what part of Viking lore they are exploring. It’s about Amleth who was the inspiration for hamlet and it comes from the Gesta Danorum (deeds of the Danes) written by Saxo Grammaticus in the 12th century.
I would definitely say however that it was focused more on visual story telling. The visuals were fucking awesome. It was more of a show me don’t tell me kind of movie.
I don’t agree with Striker when he says that the Northman has a weak story. The script is basically in the same style as the Icelandic sagas. Sure the Norse sagas may not hold up to modern dramaturgical standards, but the movie is very historical accurate in this regard. Take Njals saga for example, the first 2/3 of the book is just two families trying to resolve their differences at the Thing/Folkmoot. It may not be that thrilling, but it’s interesting. A good example of Saga-humor is the Saga of Gisli. Bork is married to Thordis. Thordis is sister to Gisli. On account of some minor slight Gisli and Bork starts feuding.
