I’ve been a subscriber for 5+ years. Video hasn’t worked in Brave browser for about 3 years of that time. I get nothing but contempt when I’ve asked for help solving this issue.
I am content as an audio-only listener. I wouldn’t say anything if it wasn’t for Mike’s comment at the very end about making this a video focused show. Please don’t. Or at least fix your site I’d you are going to
Apparently in the middle east, as part of their hospitality it is customary to give as a gift to a guest anything they compliment. A number of comedians have commented on this when they went to places like Saudi Arabia. I think it’s supposed to demonstrate non-attachment and anti-materialism. Idk if it’s just Muslims or if Christians from the region do it to, but that would explain Drehr’s story.

I almost never watch the videos because I listen at work. The audio content is perfect for tradesmen that can literally listen to podcasts 10 hours a day, every day.

At my last job, I listened audio only almost exclusively because I was in the back washing and cleaning stuff for 3 to 4 hours. Not all of us can be content consumers and watch the video feed at the same time.
I always assumed the thing that was supposed to be funny about the king tut skit was that it was a reference to a solemn, pious, artistically virtuosic and awe inspiring ancient culture in the form of lowbrow modern consumer schlock rife with contemporary fadism and slang. That was a common kind of contrast humor for a time, like when the old white lady in Airplane! speaks jive.

Can confirm that as a kid in the late 70’s early 80’s king tut was a huge “thing”…
Yeah I remember a lot of magazine features and hubub about museum exhibits. The SNL skit references it heavily saying “If I’d known they’d line up just to see him, I’d have taken all my money and bought me a museum.” “Gave his life for tourism,” etc.

Yeah the Appalachian vibe has become an item on the list of shitlib consumer identity products. I was in Thomas the other day and it’s entirely overrun. The local coffee shop has all these shitlib signs and one of them read: NO MOUNTAINEER IS FREE UNTIL EVERYONE IS FREE. Black Lives Matter.
