100% agree on the right to repair debate. The phrase right to repair shouldn’t even exist, and it only exists because of this incredibly jewish concept where you try to squeeze every last cent out of the other side of any transaction through complicated contracts and other bullshit. I had a gig one night in the early 90’s and the power amp section on my 100W Solid State Crate combo amp blew out during practice that day. Went to the local shop and picked up a Peavey VTM 120, real piece of shit, wasn’t even foot switchable. Got it for around $150. Hooked it up to my Crate 2×12 combo speakers to play the gig. I had the Peavey VTM 120 Kim Thyil used for recording Badmotorfinger. It had this section with “on/off” switches for gain, compression and eq. Really cool but the 6L6’s blew out and I put it in my attic over the garage because I just had a kid and needed to get a bunch of jobs and the amp was broken anyway. Sold the house to some shitty cat lady and started to play guitar again a few years later. Realized the Kim Thyil Amp head is still in this cat lady’s garage attic.
I just use a JapMade Ibanez RG through a Boss Katana wireless 30W with 2 – 3″ speakers and it sounds awesome. Probably because of the Jap made Ibanez. My Korean Shechter semi-hollow with 2 SD 59’s through that amp sounds even better somehow. South Korean made > Japland? Anyway, I’m surprised Sven hasn’t tried the wireless Boss Katana 30W with 2 3″ speakers. Sounds awesome. Solves all recording problems. Remember to download the Boss app.

Around 04′ or 05′, I bought a 50watt Line 6 amp from either Guitar Center or Daddy’s Junky music in Boston. I lugged that thing on the crowded subway and walked home with it. It got heavy real fast.

There’s still something special that happens when you get a 100 watt amp in the sweet spot. And something even more special when you can do it at 3 am through headphones if you want.
At some point I realized I wasn’t a guitar player anymore. I was a mic fuck around with’er. Sold the MD421 long ago. The 57s are collecting dust somewhere. Not going back.
Mnemic’s The Audio Injected Soul was another album done in surround. Great album. They played with the surround too by having parts of a couple songs bounce from one channel to another. The entire audio in one song and the vocals in another. It was a fun idea but unless you have a vision for what to do with the surround it’s completely unnecessary.

The blacksmithing “guild” I was a member in recently held a “forge-in” for Ukraine. It’s basically like a bake sale, but the things that are made and sold or money from classes held is sent to whatever organization is helping with whichever issue is at hand.
