I consider myself a canal autist. It is 1/12th the cost to float cargo than to ship it across land.

Of course Baghdad didn’t exist 2,200 years ago, it’s just a name, as it was found near Baghdad.

Canals are more efficient for same reason shipping on water is more efficient. Canals however are a bigger capital investment (you have to dig canals whereas most railway tracks can be laid on ground as is or with very minor gradient changes) and you are limited where you can put them, so once steam locomotive technology was perfected it replaced canals. But canals were very important in the British industrial revolution and didn’t disappear overnight. Britain is still criss-crossed with a network of canals which are now used for leisure rather than transportation. They have a canal historical trust that… Read more »

Got pushed into the water by a canal once. Tried to climb back up the wall, barefoot (I was 12). Still have the wicked scars where they fucking razor bladed the bottom of my feet into the bloodiest mess I’ve seen to this day. Don’t plant your feet on sea walls kids

Learning about canal vs trains Nazi autism is worth being a sub
I lived in Cape Coral Florida for awhile. It has more miles of canal than anywhere in the world, surpassing Venice. The Snowbirds all cruise around in their boats, as their are even a load of bars etc that have boat access. Look at the place on Google maps, its kind of amazing. When we moved their from Jersey, we had one of those 400$ fishing boats for freshwater lakes with a trolling motor. We’d take it out into the large areas of the canals, and look like total assholes in our tiny little boat. Did get to pet a… Read more »

How many old geezers have disappeared when they drove into those canals on Cape Coma? I saw a story a few years ago where they fished out some old lady who went in in 1989. 🎣

Gorby’s offer shows the still-persistent misconception in Russia that the West are all fascists at heart. Guys raised in the Bolshevik system genuinely believe that “fascism is capitalism in decline” and similar Marxist shibboleths.
Fascism is just a bogeyman to most people. The effort to research and learn what fascism actually was (while avoiding the intentional misinformation) is too much for most people.

Local guy was arguing for electric cars on the Facebook yesterday, boomers typing in all caps about keystone pipeline.
I asked him what happens to all of the old batteries, he posted a wall text, I’m assuming an article copy pasta, tl;dr but at the end I saw “why worry about a problem that isn’t here yet……”
And I thought about you guys instantly & how I wish you could have been there lol.
The thing you were talking about, Moike, is the Baghdad battery, supposedly the first storage for a mild current, enough to light a single bulb.

If the did the same thing in the 70’s and people didn’t like it why are they going to try it again by keeping daylight savings time. And not use the real time. Something jewish is afoot with this resistance to avoid keeping it the actual time the whole year

I’m surprised Top Gun 2 hasn’t been released yet to add to the anti Russian hysteria.
Brace for By Dawn’s Early Light, Crimson Tide, The Day After, Dr. Strangelove, Fail Safe, Red Dawn, and other Cold War remakes with frizzy hair mulattoes and pajeets added.
Steve Sailer had a recent post about how very not-anti-Russian Hollywood movies were, with the exception of the 1980s.

Dear J€W$, I know whenever you talk to normal white people you get afraid that maybe the person being nice and pleasant to you actually knows the truth and they’re hiding it. I know that’s what you believe in your paranoid thoughts. And you’re absolutely right. Oh sure not everyone is aware, not even a majority, and probably not even a plurality. But it’s a lot more than you would be comfortable acknowledging. They know, and they’re watching. They take a mental note of your names and behavior and what you do. If they have spouses they come home and… Read more »

Moike lied again, it’s the Baghdad Battery from ancient Iraq (2,200 years ago), not from Egypt.

Prep in the T-90 battle tank. Apparently Ukrainian farmers are selling them dirt cheap on E-Bay.
why is their take on LOTR identical to marvel brained TV race?
